How do you get one? It will be nice to have one just incase we fell like going abroad

The first thing you have to get is an injection against Rabies. and get micro chipped. Then you have to wait for some time ( I think several weeks from memory), and have a blood test to make sure that it has worked. You need to start this process at least six months before you are thinking of travelling.

After that you are issued with the paperwork, and a booster injection is required every two years.

At the end of your trip abroad, it is required that you visit a Vet before your return journey, between 24 and 48 hours, as you are required to have treatment for worms, usually a Drontal pill, or similar, and Frontline for flees and ticks, and the Vet has to sign the passport to confirm that he has given the treatment and register the date and time. The cost of this can vary between 30 and 60 Euros.

I must say, it is all a bit of a bother, but in my opinion, worth every bit, as the freedom once your have crossed the Channel is wonderful.

Just imagine, almost every hotel and restaurant will allow your dog in, and many times even welcome your pet, and we have even had steak cooked for free, without asking, chairs brought to the table, and all sorts of nice welcomes, just the opposite of here in the UK when you are often asked to leave.

You can go into shops too without the worry of being thrown out ! That is, of course assuming that your dog is well behaved !!

No Candi hasn´t got a passport, i don´t think we will be taking her anywhere the abroad at the moment. I think it´s wonderful how more laid back the hotels are restaurants are with allowing dogs in. This should happen more here, i think in my opinion there isn´t enough.
