On BBC radio 2 recently Terry Wogan was talking about grumpy Jack Russells. Much as I love Wally he can also be very grumpy! If my husband Stuart looks out of the window Wallace growls and barks, if Stuart comes to hug me then Wallace doesn´t like that either! He takes over the whole couch and grumbles and growls if you try to shove him up a bit to make space! Are any of your JR´s ever grumpy too?

yes my jack russell jess can be like that too,if she is playing with a bone no one can go near her and she will growl until we go away, she also gets very jealous if we play with our other dog and not her.

Jacks are "big dogs in small package" and they also have very strong character. This is why owners must be the master and the head of the family. If not Jack is trying to take over the "reign". They are small but they can and want to dominate. It should be always taken into consideration.
Our PRT never growl. The always leave when we order, they always let take their food and they always obey, because they know that in the hierarchy of the family they are on the lower position after people.

...That´s what Benji also used to do, but a dogs´ trainer told me it is not so much demanding attention but a ´calming signal´: When in his opinion an encounter gets too tense, a dog will always try to physically stand between the two persons to ´ease the situation´ !
