We had them shaking in their furry pants. Who, I hear you ask. All the locals. Berty, Wally and I were going to the local pub at lunch time. Just for a few drinks. The sun was shining. The village was lying their in a shimmering haze of warmth and sunlight. So we thought we’d spark things up a bit

Being a natural born viking, and Bert insisting that he is descending from the viking and Wally just being partial to a bit of rape and plunder, we all donned our viking helmets and went to town. I tell you, people and dogs and cats in particular just scattered, when then saw this lot marching through town. The landlord at the pub was pooing himself with fear, and we got all the drinks for nothing. We were right rowdy by the time Absy came to get us. Somebody had called hers and Berts Mum and told her about our little escapade. I don’t believe she found it very amusing with all the locals blaming her….

So off we went home. Now I thought we’d get a right telling off, caus’ my Mum would have been scary, if I’d done that at home. We got back to the house, and we were still giggling and being silly. Berts Mum stood there in the living room looking very stern. I thought here it comes. But do you know what? She just shook her head a bit and said “You silly lads” and then she winked at us. We went in the kitchen, and she made us more bacon butties. My absolute favourite. My Mum could learn a thing or two from Bert and Absys Mum.

Absy put Wally to bed, and she stayed with him “to keep an eye on him in case he needed anything..”

Bert and I sprawled on the couch with Mrs Mum in the middle stroking us to sleep. I like Yorkshire, me!
