About me

I had Butch from 1977-1989. He looked like a small Labrador.

In 1977 or 78 I had a dog named Thor who looked like and was about the same size as Butch, maybe 25 - 30 lbs or so. My brother, who is a cat lover, let Thor out one day and didn´t go after him. When I came home we went looking for him and saw him lying on the side of the road dead. There was an animal control officer already there to pick him up. We buried Thor outside our front door. Butch was a stray who used to come over everyday to play with Thor. After Thor´s death we adopted Butch.

Butch was a family dog and my two brothers, my dad, and I shared him at our separate homes. Butch was hit by a car three times, once each with my two stupid brothers and finally killed when under my dad´s care. We had Butch longer than any other dog - about twelve years. Some of the dogs I have now will surpass that mark. Butch used to sing along with us when we sang (see photo). When I found out Butch had died I had to take two weeks off from work. Of course I made up another excuse for my absence, how would they react if I told them I was grieving over my dog? I miss Butch very much.
