My mummy does too

My mummy used to buy me actual dog chocolate but now they have stop selling. So now my mummy bribs me and tells me to be extra good and i´ll get half a square of real human chocolate. Its so much yummier and creamier and mum whispers in my ear a lil bit now and then wont hurt just dont tell dad its our little secret.

there are special doggy/yoghurt choccies that you can give yor dog.......... I give my dogs the occassional human choccy but not many - they LOVE smarties and get a small mini box once a week if I can find them in the shops!!! I love my babies too and they are so SPOILT!!!!!!!!!

I fail to understand people who claim to love their dogs so much and then essentially poison them--it´s like "oh I really love my baby but, sometimes, if he´s good, I feed him a little rat poison--it´s ok because it hasn´t hurt him yet and he just really likes it." I personally love my dogs like children and will not feed them things that aren´t healthy--I love them that much and owe them that--just like I owe it to them to train them and keep them out of the street--no matter how much they love to chase cars and other dogs out there.

My mum loves me too, but I only get doggy chocolate every couple of days no more than that, I like my doggy chocolate because then mum & dad can´t eat it hee hee all the more for me, I´ve tried their chocolate once ( I stole it when mums back was turned) oh never again they gave me such a telling off & was not allowed any treats for two days (thats my main punishment)

I don´t get it. Why does a dog need any chocolate, sweets etc. My dogs will eat anything equally enthusiastically. Everything is a treat to them. I think people who treat their dogs to sweets are really trying to treat themselves.

I agree, the "crazy" in the title should relate to the giving of chocolate to the dogs. Benny- chocolate is toxic to dogs and you should not give it to him. Period. Dark chocolate (high cocoa content) is more dangerous than milk chocolate but encouraging him to develop a taste for it is very dangerous.

There are many many yummy and healthy treats out there for dogs. If you truly love your dog you will research about what is safe and not safe for dogs to eat. There is a list in the wiki about toxic items. I highly recommend you read it.

Any food or medication that you wish to give your pet should be discussed with your veterinarian. It´s sweet that you love your dog, but how bad will you feel if he gets sick because you "didn´t know".

Im sure we have all at one time or another given them a guilty pleasure. Tucker sometimes gets a cheeseburger ( plain and dry) and though it is not " good" for him but it is not deadly. I would rather shoot myself than to give him anything .. even just a small bite.. of something that is KNOWN to be poision to him.

heaven forbid you should ever need it but did you know you can call the ( human) poision control center for your animals?

I never give Wally chocolate. I did it once before I realised that it was bad for him and he had a very upset tummy, I´ll never do it again. He´s a funny dog, he doesn´t seem to like any kind of treat really. If I give him a pigs ear all he does is guard it like a baby and growl like hell if anyone goes near it!

Nope, sorry cant say we do. Its just not necessary when she´ll go crazy happy over the healthy stuff. When we go places where there are other ppl we even tell them "sorry she´s on a special diet so dont give her anything..." which basically just means we´ll hande it and only healthy stuff.

I don´t get to eat chocolates cause I´m too fat!! I was given once but when I ate all the chocolate pieces that were in the package in just one day, my owner never bought again!!

Certainly I indulge them some--Bear loves baby carrots (and loves to get them out of the fridge himself when he wants them during the day) so I make sure that there are always carrots for him...but that is something he LOVES that is healthy for him so I get to feel like I´m spoiling him a bit without any guilt or worry.

With Ben and Julian its watermelon. I can get them to do almost anything for a slice of watermelon so I find myself buying a whole watermelon instead of just a part simply because they love it so much. We (the humans that is) get a slice each and they finish the rest!
I don´t see the need to give them sugary things - fruit is just as sweet and will do them much better then poisoning them with man made stuff.

You should not give any chocolate to your dogs, because it will effect them in life and they will end up dying, so if you want your dog to live healtier and longer give them fruits, i now they dont like it but after a while they will start eating it believe me, when i eat watermelon i give some to kisha and only her cuz if buddy eats some he will always stare at me when im eating, but dont worry they both get the same amount. i just put the watermelon in his bowl. anyways fruits are healtier. dogs are able to eat fruits and veggies, without getting poison, i ask my veteranien. well she is very loyal, so she will never lie to me, Do not feed your dog chocolate feed them fruits or veggies; they will stay longer and not be poisoned and they will enjoy it and so will you, because your dog wont be poisoned! THX for your time!

Hanbanan--Grapes--never give your dog grapes and be careful with avocados--there are some studies that show that they can be hazardous.

Apples are a personal favorite at my house, although we have friends whose dogs go crazy for oranges.
