I am just sick reading this!! I can´t believe that anyone would do such a thing!! I was crying just reading this........I signed the petition....hopefully this counts!! I hope something is done....I hope he gets the MAX!! You could tell this dog was not aggressive...look into his eyes, they show love and loyalty....NOT Aggression!! This is just sick, it makes me just sick....Please keep us updated on what happens...I would really like to know. Poor doggy what a sick way to go, atleast his mom was there to hold him while he took his last breath.

I´m so sorry for Gage´s family! I can´t imagine what I would do if something like that happened to one of my girls, it would rip my heart out! Please let us know what happens in court.

Someone should take a gun to the mad man

same here

I wish we could hear the verdict. Hope it´s not just a tap on the fingers. Cruelty and cold blooded murder deserve an equal punishment!

26.August 2008 19:42

I really hope this psycho gets what he deserves: max!

27.August 2008 04:33

This is a horrible case and, although I haven´t heard the verdict yet, I hope that this monster will be locked away for a long time.

I do want to add though that I wish this family were doing things differently. They are getting a lot of press and attention and are now setting up a fund to help other animals which is great but in everything I have seen from them it says something along the lines of "Gage wasn´t a typical pitbull--he was sweet and gentle and loved everyone and everything" (I am paraphrasing a bit). This only serves to perpetuate the very stereotype that likely put their dog in danger in the first place. The idea that pitbulls are scary, aggressive and violent--which is ridiculous. They need to be trying to change the perception of pitbulls by using Gage as an example, rather than trying to convince people that he is the exception to the rule. That would be more of an honor to his life and memory. I´m sorry but this really bothers me and I only come forward with it after discussing it with other bully owners who felt the same. Just my 2 cents I suppose.

what a terrible story let us know how is going on this nasty person

27.August 2008 10:33

I agree with Cookie. Vinnie was a "typical pitt" made that way by a drug dealer, fighting, abuse and neglect, but 2 -3 weeks with us and Vinnie was no longer "typical" Of course, I don´t believe there is a "typical" just stating that for example. Even the vet didn´t think we would save Vinnie, physically or mentally. But we did. Read his entire early story at http://www.geocities.com/evaszoo/Vinnie.html

He has endured Heartworm treatment, epilepsy, and years of recurring skin cancer and other tumors. He is an amazing dog. He´s my hubby´s favorite dog, Brutus is his second favorite.

There is a movement to try to get more publicity for Gage´s story and the family and friends are aiming for Rachael Ray--who has a pitbull of her own and is something of a breed ambassador here in the US. U.S. people--please write to the show and let Rachael know that we are hoping to see this on her show.

Here´s the link to where you can send her an idea for Gage´s Story.

Sadly my earlier post was wrong. He was found guilty but it was of a lesser charge--misdemeanor animal cruelty--maximum is 6 months. Blech I feel sick now.

29.August 2008 01:46

Fantastic news!! Well done to all concerned. It won`t bring poor Gage back but justice has been done!! Just goes to show that you have to keep fighting for what you believe in.Inspiring stuff!

GOOD. i hope he gets the full 10 years, even tho i wish it could be more.... if someone shot and killed my baby(human), they would go away for life. My dog is my friend, my family, my baby.... so if someone were to kill her i would want them gone forever!!!! except i dont know if i could hold back, i would probably track the killer down and shoot him....

Poor Gage! people like that neighbor REALLY anger and disgust me! he should get the maximum sentence possible. >

As I said before, he was convicted of a lesser charge and could have been sentenced up to 6 months in jail, however he was actually sentenced to 180 days of community service to be served at an animal shelter.

if he hates dogs so much enough to kill.. this would be a torture to him and hope it would change his life around..regarding dogs.
