have you experienced before or even at present situation you are in front of many opposing circumstances or you are being down-graded as “insane” by other people for loving & caring a dog and spending too much money for them? or any other bullying or discrimination?

please share i.e. the setback, what they said, what you replied to them, how did you feel about it and what made you unfazed after all.

thanks.

My friends and family are very supportive to me..i know that some of them are maybe thinking that i´m insane, well, beats me!,..Lmao.. hmm, they used to it, somehow..Twink is my baby and that´s it, eventhough, me and my hubby haven´t blessed yet with an angel

Most of my friends think I am crazy for having three dogs, they say they can understand one or maybe even two but three is over the top. However they are happy together and I wouldnt want to be without any of them.

I know Exactly what you mean Rockyapollo, everyone is telling me that I have too many dogs, but I would never give them up for the World! I don´t see other people´s opinions as a set back though, as long as I´m happy with my dogs, that´s all that matters.

thats very sweet same here, as long as i´m happy w/ my dogs, i dont care what other people might think. i already have 5 dogs. 2 dogs and 3 pups. its kinda hard to take care all of them but i´m trying my very best to give them what they need because thats how much i love them

I think that if yo are happy loving and caring for a 100 dogs and can give them just as much as attention as 2 or 3 it doesn´t matter what other people SAY or think its what makes you happy in the end and that what counts - other people out there do stranger things than owning dogs

Because Taz had a lot of medical problems, pretty much from birth, we ended up spending a small fortune on him through the years to keep him as healthy and happy as possible. Most my friends thought I was insane and should have just let him be put to sleep to save myself the money. I´d do it all again if I had to though, because he was worth every penny.

Also he was born blind and throughout his life I had several people who met us on walks etc. tell me that it was cruel to allow him to live, since he surely couldn´t manage a normal life without sight. It used to make me so angry. His blindness was never a problem for him, provided we didn´t move the furniture around and he was able to run and play just like any sighted dog. My Father In Law is blind and I used to ask these people if I should get him put to sleep along with the dog... that usually shut them up

I have been called "insane" - and more, because I have so many animals. It doesn´t worry me in the least. Remarks like that don´t affect me. As long as my animals are healthy, comfortable and I am able to care for all their needs I´m happy. My life would be terribly lonely without my animals.

i have a dog and 3 godlfish, my parents have two cats, a dog and a canary and my sis has two cats, plus we feed stray cats in our neighbourhood and any stray dog that comes in our way. SInce neither me or my sister are married, in friends´ eyes we are still supposed to be family with your parents (although living in different flats) and they think we are insane having so many pets and even spending much money on daily basis for feeding strays... but, we DON´T care, because we ADORE our animals, they make our life happier, and we can feel no better piece of mind/satisfaction than feeding a stray and making him believe there is still a chance that life could be good

i have also some frustrating encounters before but i’d like to share what just happened this morning. a friend of mine called inviting for a day out. i said not sure because i feel lethargic today. he said “you are lazy or you just can’t leave your dog again? that’s it now you will miss a lot, you just bought a problem (dog) for your self." i haven’t sipped my coffee this morning but i think i managed to calm down. i just replied “you right…but guess what, i’m planning to buy another one” i just laughed. in fact, we are going to my other friend’s place for a BBQ get-together and my bully is coming because they want to meet him.

I don´t know about insane, but a friend of mine must own a magic wand, She has roughly 20 dogs, border collies, papillons and JRTs. They all live in the house.......and her house is spotless.

my first dog was a belgian malinois. no problem about that.
then a friend talked to me and told me that somebody wants their dog to be adopted. that dog is max, he has mange and his fur was almost gone, a very very not good smell, and very thin! i asked a vet if this dog has a chance, and he said yes. that day that dog comes home with me but before we went home he had his first vaccine against mange. when my friends and relatives saw my newly arrived pet, the reaction was very rude. they say why did you get that dog! blah blah blah! the dog needs help i said to my mind. 3mos later max´s skin started to get covered by his newly grown coat. now after almost 2 years he was one of the most adored dogs in our place. and guess what the previous owner wanted max back!

When I first got Silver I wasn´t sure about keeping her.In the first 2 weeks I came home from work and she had pulled a large plant apart dirt all over the place. I WAS ANGRY BUT SHE GAVE ME THAT PUPPY DOG LOOK THAT THEY ALL SEEM TO HAVE. Since then she goes almost everywhere. People will ask where she is if not with me. What´s funny first thing people ask is how´s Silver. My son´s say she gets treated the same as them. But it´s just me and her living together so she is very very special. Always ready with a cuddle a kiss what more could you ask for.People ask why I never remarried I just say Silver is like a wife she listens when she wants..I´d be lost without her.

Let´s say the social life has become almost nonexistent. A lot of people - even relations - say, they like animals but they won´t accept an animal in their own place, so we cannot visit them, since I refuse to put cat and dog into a hotel, or we just take turns at visiting and one of us stays home. Some others not only don´t invite us but also stopped visiting us, because they´re afraid of the dog - no matter small or big - our is big.
But somehow I don´t care. I think, those people´s life is rather poor if they cannot live to give and receive the love of animals.
Not to mention legion of some other people believing the others are crazy because they care about their pets and spend a lot of money on them.

Ask her what her secret is Val--I could certainly use it!
People always think I´m nuts for having so many pets and for spending so much on them. With Bear particularly people think I shouldn´t have spent so much but my attitude is this:Bear loves me, comforts me and protects me--those people obviously don´t mean anything to me or they wouldn´t be so judgemental so what would I care? Bear snuggles me when I get home and I prefer that to any person that I´ve ever met.

My dog is my child, my dad´s dog is his child. Neither of us would even consider giving them anything but the best! The best time, love, food, care. Would you consider less for any other part of your family? People who don´t have pets just cannot understand this, since they have never experienced the love a pet can give.
My boss used to chide me for treating Basher like a baby and I would tell him that she IS my baby!

18.May 2008 00:19

If people think we are crazy for having 3 dogs and loving them so be it, if we are crazy then we wouldn´t have it anyother way

18.May 2008 05:04

I think once I got into reptiles people stopped questioning me about the K9 family member...people are more freaked out about the snakes and lizards. lol But i love them all and will continue to care for any animal that comes into my home.

When I first got my Frayja babe and she was having seizures, my parents, friends, vets, and the rest of the family were really enchouraging me to take her back to the shelter. But I knew she wouldn´t get the proper attention their, and they wouldn´t have the money for the vet bills. Despite everyone and the vets all telling me she was done for....i knew she would pull through!
But my grandmother...being a very strict britt wouldn´t talk to me up-until recently for it! No christmas or birthday wishes, nothing! She was mad at me for saving a life?!?!? *pffff* w/e.....Just bite your tongue Marrisa....
